Why a Youth Center? The Clayton Community Youth Center is the culmination of years of student ministry, prayer, and careful planning. The vision for such a center developed out of a sense that the youth of our area (the North Hills of Pittsburgh ) would be well-served by making available to them a place where healthy relationships, values and activities would be modeled and encouraged. The value of such a facility, which would be “safe, adult-supervised, and drug- and alcohol-free,” was confirmed over and over again, through discussions with community leaders and youth workers, all concerned for the development of our youth.
Thus in October of 2000, Memorial Park Church identified a community youth center as one of the cornerstones of its 3-year strategic plan ….
and on November 16, 2003, the Clayton Community Youth Center was dedicated to the glory of God.
The Clayton Center contributes to the overall mission of the church, in providing young people with a place where they can grow in their knowledge of Jesus as Creator and Lord, develop nurturing relationships, and reach out to their peers and their world with God’s love.
