MEN’S GROUPS
There are weekly and monthly gatherings for men.
THURSDAY MEN'S BIBLE STUDY
We meet in the Parlor from 6:30 - 7:30am. Come and join us for Prayer, Bible Study and Fellowship. We're currently studying "Active Spirituality" based on a book written by Charles Swindoll. The Bible is used as our guide as we progress through this study. How often do you consider the importance of being spiritually active in everyday life? Think of how your life can impact others for Jesus Christ. Our hope and our strength come from the Lord. As we meet our hope is to encourage one another in our walk of faith in order to be effective disciples for Christ while encountering a world that desperately hungers for significance.
For information contact Pete Pugliese
THE FRIDAY MORNING MEN’S STUDY - Fridays, 8 a.m.
The senior men meet every Friday morning in the Parlor for a continental breakfast, discussion of a timely topic and Bible study. Discussion is facilitated by a teaching team of pastors and laymen. The Friday men’s study does not meet in the summer.
MEN’S DISCIPLESHIP GROUPS
Men’s Leadership Training Groups are ready to blast off this fall at MPC! Groups of twelve men will meet weekly at the church to study the Bible and Christian Leadership books. These groups help men develop a tight-knit group for support, see their prayers answered and have their faith strengthened as they are equipped to serve God in their home, workplace and the church. Please contact Bob Mason for more information and details of the times of the groups at christianleadershipconcepts.org or bmason301@yahoo.com.
HELPING HANDS - A crew of men volunteer their time and talents to perform minor home repairs for single moms and older adults in our congregation. Contact us if you wish to offer your services or if you have a need.
THE EXPERIMENT
Most of us Christian men today do two things very well: we believe and we belong. We believe in God and we belong to a church. And for most of us, that’s as far as we’ve ever taken it.
“Of course I have a ‘personal relationship with Jesus.’ I talk to Him every Sunday in church.”
“Sure, you can tap into God’s power…if you’re Billy Graham. Regular guys -- we just do the best we can.”
“I love God and I’m doing my best, but there’s only so much one person can do, and besides, my schedule’s already pretty full.
But there are others of us who are convinced, deep down, that it is possible to experience more. We’ve seen it evidenced in the lives of acquaintances and coworkers, even our wives and girlfriends. Some of us have even experienced it ourselves once, but fleetingly. We just don’t know how to develop it, to nurture it, to keep it. How about you? Would you be willing to try an experiment to test your belief in God?
The Experiment is a 90-day test by the men of Memorial Park to see if there’s a real difference between believing intellectually and gaining the benefits of that belief, between “head” knowledge and “heart” knowledge. We’ll work on developing our meditation, prayer and partnering skills both individually and in small groups of men to see what difference it makes and what God has in store. And we believe that every man, whether they’ve been a Christian for 40 years or 40 minutes, has something to offer from which we can all benefit.
Ready to take the challenge? Still need to kick the tires a little more? Either way, pick up the program materials from the church office, listen to the CD or read the brochure, and come on out to MPC on Saturday, June 25 at 9:00am to 10:00am in the Clayton Center OR Tuesday June 28 at 7:00pm to 8:00pm in Fellowship Hall to learn more about the program, get your questions and concerns addressed, and see if there’s a team you would like to join. If you know of someone that might be interested in conducting their own experiment of faith, invite them along as well.
