Small Groups

Small Groups are a place where people can connect with each other, grow in their faith and be a light to others through service and love. Just as Jesus invested in the lives of a few to affect many, Memorial Park Church seeks to be a place where everyone is cared for and no one cares for too many. No one needs to stand alone or struggle alone as we are called to “carry each other’s burdens.”
Galatians 6:2

Small groups at Memorial Park Church are designed to draw together 8-12 members who want to build friendships within the church, to study and have a better understanding of the Bible, and to learn how to apply God’s Word to their daily lives. A small group is an open forum to ask questions, express opinions and relate scripture to our lives. Most meet twice a month, in a member’s home. In addition to a traditional home group Memorial Park ministries are created with a small group model.

Memorial Park Church has groups with couples, singles, mixed, men’s, women’s and even on-line groups. They meet in the morning, evening, weekends and weekdays. Small groups meet in homes, at church, restaurants, parks and social outings; convenience and preference is determined by the group. If you are serious about growing deeper in your faith and with others there is a place for you here.

Small group members provide love and support to one another. We also encourage them to practice service through outreach or missions to build an outward focus. Many have adopted one of the church’s mission partners and pray for them regularly, or host them when they visit.

Running After You
is a new small group for runners who like spending time with God while they hit the pavement. They will meet on Saturday mornings for collective group running and to discuss the weekly reading from the book “Running with Joy” by Ryan Hall (one of the fastest runners in history). Talks can continue through the week via a private online Facebook group. This group, participating in a 5K this May, is about utilizing God’s gift of running to further His Kingdom through fellowship, community, service and giving. People run for many different reasons. We hope this group will attract individuals with a desire to improve physical health and grow closer to God through the challenges of training and sacrifice.

Community Care for Military
SUPPORT GROUP
On Thursday, November 17, at 7:30 p.m., military families are encouraged to join us for sharing, support and hugs while your loved one is actively serving or for those who are dealing with issues of reintegration into civilian life.
PLANNING TEAM
The next meeting is set for Monday, November 21, 7:30 p.m. Please contact Jaime Dean at 412-364-9492, x110 to learn more about this new outreach ministry.

CCM ministry team meets regularly on the third Monday of the month (Oct. 17, Nov. 21)
All across the city people are actively engaged in helping veterans and active military families. One of our roles is to bring awareness of some of these opportunities for people to respond to as they feel lead.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Community Care for Military (CCM) is to love military families and veterans in our community so that we may assist them in meeting their physical, emotional, spiritual, and social needs in a God honoring way and to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ to them.

Vision
CCM desires for every active military member that we encounter to know that we are thankful for their service and sacrifices and that they and their families are cared about, prayed for and supported. We want them to know that we will care for their families while they are deployed so that they need not worry about the homefront but be free to focus on the tough challenges of their duty. We will pray them through their deployment and stay in contact with them and their families through the duration. We will gladly utilize our resources and contacts to care for their families and to prepare for their return and reintegration with their families whether it be in a continued military status or through a transition to civilian life. When we see that a need exists that we cannot currently fulfill through existing ministry resources we will pursue the outside resources that we have. Eventually, we hope to reach out to veterans and veteran families in the community who are not currently attending MPC in order to help them in the same ways. In short, we will support veterans and their families in every way possible.

It is our hope that one day our church would become known as a church who honors our veterans and their families with acts of     service, prayers and a presence in their lives and that all veterans and their families will be thanked, honored, and cared for in a way honorable to their sacrifice for us.
