Preschool Outreach

Teaching Compassion

We are committed to increasing awareness of our students for others who may be in need. Our efforts begin in the classrooms and extend far around the globe. Here are just some of our partners.
Soles for Jesus
Memorial Park Christian Preschool partners with the overseas relief group, Soles for Jesus, to collect new and gently used shoes that will make a life-changing difference in the life of children and adults in about 30 African countries. These shoes are a blessing to the people and a tool that opens doors for sharing the Gospel. Boxes are located outside of the preschool wing hall door, near the Huston Room doors in the main church building, and in the entryway of the Clayton Center for shoe collection.

Ways you can help:
  • Sort through your shoes at home and bring in gently used pairs (please rubber band or tie each pair together);
  • Browse the clearance racks in various stores;
  • Write a check out to SolesforJesus.org to help defray shipping costs (drop off in the office or offering plate).
  • Consider your sphere of influence (family/neighborhood/school/work place) and how you can publicize this shoe drive as an extension of what we’re doing here.
Partnering with Memorial Park Church's outreach staff, preschool students are invited to participate in collecting items for welcome bags benefiting newly arrived refugee children.
Children have the opportunity to shop in our Christmas Store for family members and friends. Proceeds are used to buy gift cards (Giant Eagle, Target, etc.) for preschool families in need.

We also collect items for the local Food Bank during this month. We solicit toilet paper, cereal, peanut butter, and canned goods for North Hills Community Outreach (NHCO) (an MPC mission partner).
Each Spring, Memorial Park Church hosts a huge day of service called Love Local! We come alongside this effort and collect donations for bagged lunches for Light of Life Rescue Mission (an outreach partner at MPC that serves the homeless population of Pittsburgh). We partner with Children's Ministries to fulfill this need and pack lunches with them.
